Dr. David La Vine is a distinguished internist with over a decade of experience in preventive primary care and chronic disease management. Known for his thoughtful and patient-centered approach, Dr. La Vine is dedicated to fostering long-term wellness through proactive care and meaningful collaboration with his patients.
He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Diego. Prior to joining MD², Dr. La Vine served as Assistant Medical Director at the Scripps Center for Executive Health in La Jolla and held clinical roles at Scripps Clinic Medical Group and Home Physicians Medical Group in San Diego.
Dr. La Vine is highly regarded by patients and colleagues alike for his integrity, clinical expertise, and compassionate care style. He believes that attentive listening, mutual respect, and enthusiastic partnership are essential to achieving impactful health outcomes. His clinical interests include optimizing complex chronic medical diseases and preferentially focusing on prevention strategies for cardiovascular disease and cancer. He has also been honored as a San Diego Top Doc, recognizing his dedication to exceptional patient care.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. La Vine is committed to medical education. He serves as an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine for the Scripps Green Residency program, where he mentors emerging physicians and contributes to the advancement of internal medicine. He also volunteers at St. Leo's Medical Clinic throughout the year, reflecting his commitment to community health and service.
Outside of medicine, Dr. La Vine leads an active lifestyle that includes spending time with his wife and children, snowboarding, hiking, and participating in father-son and father-daughter camping through Adventure Guides. Come football season, he is a passionate supporter of the University of Georgia Bulldogs.
